Fashion / NYFW Lesson #2: Play with Proportions!
We’re taking lessons from the Fashion Week streets this week because, well… NYC trendsetters just do it better! NYFW Lesson #2: Playing with proportions! Now we all know that rocking a midi-length skirt or an oversized coat is no easy feat (and generally reserved for the sartorial elite)…but with a couple of style tips from our friends on the East, you too can prove that it’s cool to be square (or triangular, or rectangular, or oblique…)!
Lesson #2: Play with Proportions
Bigger is better (just ask Margiela)! An oversized coat adds instant volume to your silhouette. Pair with your fave skinnies (or some bold printed pants) and sky-high heels to keep the streets looking chic!
We haven’t seen a hemline this hot since…we don’t know when! For a look straight out of Parisian Vogue, throw on a pair of socks (or tights) and platform heels to give a midi-hemline an extra dose of je ne sais quoi!
The higher the heel, the better you feel. (Except when you’re walking in NYC.) Flatforms are a short gal’s best friend and add that extra bit of sass to any outfit. Go for the full funk effect in bold vibrant prints or polish off a Canadian Tuxedo…with those extra few inches, you can do just about anything.
