| THINGS WE LOVE: MOODY GLAM ART | | OCTOBER 22, 2009 | 16:43 PM | | |
Between Halloween quickly approaching and everyone’s current craze for vampires, we’re majorly crushing on this gothic-glam look and can’t wait to bust out all of these rich winter colors from the back of our closets. Definitely feeling inspired by artist Liselotte Watkins’ decorative illustrations and portraiture. Just loving the moody glamour of it all. And the mixing, mashing, clashing patterns? Even better! What do you think? Click the link below to see more of her work.

| HAPPY THOUGHTS FOR A HAPPY TUESDAY | | SEPTEMBER 8, 2009 | 17:43 PM | | | Can’t seem to help it, but I keep getting thrown off that today is already Tuesday! Gotta love a good, long 3-day weekend. While it’s a bit crazy catching up on the week’s deadlines without a Monday, we’re still relishing in the fact that we’re already one day closer to the next weekend! ;) Enough of the rambling… Point is: we’re feeling happy today and wanted to showcase a few things that make us smile, just to share the wealth. Enjoy!

| THINGS WE LOVE: GLAM ART | | AUGUST 17, 2009 | 17:34 PM | | |
We stumbled across these gorgeous paintings today, by Leigh of jkldesigns. The dreamy colors, lively gestures, and the moody sophistication that each woman exudes… It all reminds us what an art it is to be glamorous, and we are in complete reverie over this. The best part? You can snag a print for under $25! We are once again thinking about redecorating the office…

Local LA lofts make their debut in Funny People. We saw the film last weekend and couldn’t help wondering where in LA this eye-catching building is. Turns out: corner of Larchmont and Melrose, near Astroburger. Curbed LA also reports that four units may currently be available to rent!

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester gets a glimpse into the future. We love Leighton, and the girl just shines on the upcoming cover of Harper Bazaar’s September ‘09 issue. But what’s so special about this shoot? Photographer Terry Richardson takes the young actress from age 20 to 50 in just four shots. Click below to see Leighton’s aging process. In our opionion: her future doesn’t look half bad at all! (Now we’re just wishing the same for ourselves...)

Yesterday would have been Andy Warhol’s 81st birthday, if the King of Pop Art were still with us today. To celebrate, we’re going through all his fabulous and florescent prints for some inspiration. Which brought us to The Warhol Store. Our week is now complete, knowing that all these crazy collectibles exist! From the usual: books, posters, calendars, magnets; to the not so usual: watches, nightlights, martini glasses, and dinner plates in all shapes and sizes. That’s it, we’re in love.

It’s Shark Week on the Discovery channel and the things that come of this are just plain cool. Online, you can browse incredible photo galleries, read true stories where myths are debunked and nightmares are born, take a quiz to find out what type of shark you are, AND you can even make your own video mixer! In honor of Shark Week, we’ve added a new song to our in-store playlist too: V.V. Brown’s “Shark in the water.” Fierce!

| THINGS WE LOVE: CHIC WALL ART | | AUGUST 3, 2009 | 14:19 PM | | | .jpg)
Maybe we’ve just got beach/ocean on the mind, with this beautiful summer weather as of late, but there is something about these ultra-textured, sea-inspired wall art pieces that just makes us want to dive for our credit cards and start redecorating. Each tile is hand-sculpted of flawless Helios porcelain. I mean come on. Just plain cool. Aside from the huge dent the tile collection would make on our wallets, we can at least admire the ceramic artist, Heather Knight’s portfolio and dream of a new chic look for our now-looking-pretty-bare walls…

Funny how most of us assumed this crazy lego-looking façade on the Sunset Strip was a new trendy restaurant. But no, get this. It’s public art! Nothing but a sculpture. Complete with LED lights, it will complement the jumbotron already in place at 8410 West Sunset, and remain a permanent fixture in West Hollywood. What do you think? All we can say: Too. Cool.
