A-LIST STYLE SPOTLIGHT: NEW SWOON
NOVEMBER 20, 2009 | 16:00 PM

As edgy and alternative as they are, these Twilight stars sure clean up nicely for the red carpet. While everyone’s going nutso over the premiere, we’re sinking our teeth into their stylish looks of past and present, on and off the red carpet...

Kristen Stewart has seriously vamped up her look and gone from shy, alternative beauty to GORG runway dress-donning starlet. Flaunting designer frocks left and right, from Oscar de la Renta to Herve Leger to Balenciaga, we’d say she’s starting to earn some serious style cred...

Team Edward’s signature? It’s all about the gel-tossed bed-head look, and the scruffy face. We’d call it hipster-grunge with major LA vibes and pops of color. RPattz pulls it off, but the best part is he still knows the meaning of suiting up for the red carpet. Oh, and the bow ties? Swoon!

Team Jacob is all about the prepster look, but with a dark and debonair edge. I mean really, Taylor Lautner looks nothing but flawless in a suit and tie, but equally polished in a leather jacket and jeans. His looks are always impeccably tailored, and his dark-eyed stare tops it all off making knees wobble across the globe...

LOCAL CRUSH: THE BUTTERMILK TRUCK
NOVEMBER 19, 2009 | 17:35 PM

Angelenos! Hipsters! Late night club-goers! Track down the Buttermilk Truck, like now. You can thank us later.

Our office recently discovered new realms of happiness when the newly launched Buttermilk Truck showed up at our curb last week. From cake donuts and biscuit breakfast sandwiches to pancake bites and french toast sticks, could it get any better than this? We can attest for the tastiness of these goodies, so can Zagat, and with the truck’s official launch at The Brig on Abbot Kinney last week, hipsters and late night club-goers across LA are now catching on too and the crowds are showing it…

Owner of the truck, twenty-something LA-native Gigi Pascual, is not only adorable, but boasts a Pastry Arts degree from the French Culinary Institute in NYC that packs the punch behind her divine delicacies. Food trucks are all the rage in LA right now, so what better an opportunity than to run her own operation and serve up the most important meals of the day, for morning, noon and night. Oh, and everything on the menu? Crafted from her own, original recipes. I’m telling you Angelenos, this is one trend you should definitely track down and cash in on…

NYLON'S DIY TAKE ON MIU MIU EMBELLISHMENT
NOVEMBER 19, 2009 | 17:21 PM

Awesomeness taking place on NylonMag.com today. If you’ve gone googly-eyed like I have for Miu Miu’s Fall ‘09 collection, make it your own without the hefty runway price tag, thanks to Nylon!

HERE’S WHAT NYLON DID>> Took a pair of heavy wool or cotton socks. Bought packs of sequins and beads from a local craft store. Broke out a needle and thread, and gently sewed the sequins in clusters, making sure not to sew anything on the sock's foot. Then the fun part: “Wear them around. Make people jealous. You know the drill.” Total cost? $20-$30, depending on how fancy you want to get with the socks!

COAT CHECK! 6 STYLES TO COVET THIS SEASON
NOVEMBER 18, 2009 | 16:58 PM

(1) THE PARKA>> From the Dsquared2 to Twenty8Twelve to the streets, the parka is this season’s hottest layering piece. Cinch it with a belt and wear alone, or throw it over some layers, and roll up the sleeves for a look that’s just plain cool.
Pictured from left to right: Dsquared2 fall ’09 via Style.com, image via The Sartorialist, Dsquared2  fall ‘09 via Style.com, Twenty8Twelve fall ’09 via Style.com; Forever 21 Marla Hooded Woven Jacket, $32.80, Love 21 Elastic Waist Sheen Jacket, $24.80.

(2) THE PONCHO>> You love ‘em or you hate ‘em, but the fact is, they’re showing up everywhere now, from the Chloe runways to It-girl Erin Wasson. The upside? It’s a new take on draping, and a great way to showcase some gorgeous prints, like tribal patterns, animal prints and chunky stripes.

(3) THE LEATHER JACKET>> By now, it may seem a little overdone, but you can rework the leather jacket this season by pairing it over everything from the obvious vintage rock tee to the not so obvious, like a pretty, polished dress. For a power-dressing almost futuristic look, go for the unexpected with a collarless style.

(4) THE MILITARY JACKET>> Whether you’re paying homage to the King of Pop, or just into the extravagant detailing, military jackets are all the rage right now. Pair with lighter denim washes, or an all-dark look to put a spotlight on the details.

Military Patrol Jacket, $37.80, Forever 21 Majorette Zip Up Jacket, $27.80.

(5) THE FUR>> Is there anything else that epitomizes glamour as much as a fur coat? This season, channel Where the Wild Things Are and go faux for fall with a tiny calico shrug or a colossal, cozy vest. Wear it open, layer over a cardi and graphic tee, or keep it classic by pairing over a vintage-inspired print dress.

Twelve by Twelve Embellished Faux Fur Vest, $39.00, Forever 21 Luxe Faux Fur Shrug, $24.80, Calico Faux Fur Vest, $22.80.

(6) THE CAPE>> Not so much into the grungier, laid-back look of this season’s poncho? Go for a classy cape for a more sophisticated look that still keeps the feel of the draping. From blacks to monochromes to electric jolts of color, the sky is the limit.

GUEST BLOGGER: YOUNG, FAT, AND FABULOUS!
NOVEMBER 18, 2009 | 12:15 PM

With a look that’s a little bit edgy and a whole lotta chic, fashion blogger Gabi, of “Young, Fat and Fabulous,” is here to give you the dirt on one of her favorite staples. Click to shop the looks she pulled below, and don’t forget: today is the last day to enter our Faith 21 Most Stylish Gal search. Entries are due by 11:59PM PST tonight (11/18)...so get to it!

“We all know the importance of the little black dress, but this season is all about the little black skirt. A black mini is one of the most versatile things you can own; I wear mine at least once a week. Though it's getting colder by the day, pairing the skirt with tights and boots makes the seasonal transition effortless. Upgrade your top to something a little more sparkly, and throw on some heels to take the same skirt from day to night!” xoxo, Gabi

RUNWAY TO RED CARPET: NEW MOON PREMIERE
NOVEMBER 17, 2009 | 13:31 PM

Last night, New Moon premiered at the Bruin in Westwood and we’re not just obsessed because we love the books, or because this all took place here in LA, but mostly because of the runway looks that showed up on the red carpet. I mean really. From Valentino to McQueen, these Twilight starlets shut it down...

Kristen Stewart’s Joan Jett cut and black bangles give an edgier spin to this elegant Oscar de la Renta gown. Her signature smoky cat eye completes the look, no less, but our favorite part about it? The best accessory a girl can have—Kristen works this look with self-confidence, and nothing looks better.

While we’re a little bummed model/actress Noot Seear didn’t rock the massive 10-inch platforms from McQueen’s Spring 2010 runway, we’re still swooning for the dress. Her wavy golden locks and simple accessories add up to a pretty sophisticated take on McQueen’s apocalyptic vision.

Grown up and gorgeous Dakota Fanning nails the darker side of Valentino’s Spring 2010 collection. Vamping up the lacey dress with deep-burgundy platforms and nails to match, we give major props to this seriously stylish 15-year old.
